HOW DO THEY GET TO OUR TABLES?
1) Gardener
Farmers grow tomatoes in big
greenhouses. The gardeners grow and look after the tomatoes. Lots of tomatoes
in the UK come from Italy and Spain.
2) Pickers
Tomato pickers pick the mature tomatoes and put them in boxes. They
put the boxes in a van or a lorry .
3) Machine operator
A machine selects and washes the tomatoes. Operators control
the machines and check the tomatoes.
4) Lorry driver
The tomatoes go by different forms of transport. Drivers take them to different
destinations.
5) Destinations
Supermarkets, markets, small shops, restaurants, school kitchens,
hospital kitchens.
